China Insurance Regulatory Commission promulgated: Only fingerprints are insufficient to prove the identity of the insured

A few days ago, the China Insurance Regulatory Commission issued a statement: "Fingerprints or photographs alone cannot still cover accident insurance."

After the old short-term accident insurance was suspended from sale, very short-term accident insurance products sold at stations and other places were subject to operational difficulties because of large sales volume and time constraints. Therefore, individual insurance was inconvenient for individual applicants and insured persons. The company tried to replace personal information collection with new technologies such as fingerprint acquisition or image acquisition. However, the China Insurance Regulatory Commission recently stated that “insurance companies cannot use fingerprint collection or image capture instead of accidental billing management. The policy should include the identity of the insured and the insured.”
