Ministry of Commerce: Remarks on China's v. Poultry Restriction Measures

On September 29, the WTO panel issued a ruling on "China's v. U.S. poultry meat import restrictions measures". The report ruled that the U.S. "Comprehensive Appropriations Act 2009" clause on restricting the import of poultry meat in China does not comply with the WTO rules. Yao Jian, spokesman of the Ministry of Commerce, expressed his welcome to the verdict.

Yao Jian emphasized that China's poultry meat products are safe. China hopes that the United States will pay attention to China’s concerns and take further active measures to completely eliminate any discriminatory measures specifically targeting Chinese poultry meat, and conduct fair and equitable assessments of the equivalence of Chinese poultry meat and import inspections. The two countries’ poultry meat will be realized as soon as possible. Normal trade.

Yao Jian also pointed out that China has always insisted that WTO members should consciously abide by WTO rules and jointly oppose trade protectionism.
