Research progress on synthesis of graphene quantum dots in nanoreactors of Xinjiang Institute of Physics and Chemistry

Graphene quantum dots have the excellent performance of graphene materials and the boundary effect of quantum dot materials, and thus present a series of new characteristics. Currently, they are widely concerned by scientists in various fields such as chemistry, physics, and materials. Since its discovery, some important advances have been made in the preparation of this new type of zero-dimensional material, but how to easily obtain graphene quantum dots with controllable size, uniform particle size, and good dispersion is still a challenge.

Institute of Environmental Science and Technology, Xinjiang Institute of Physical and Chemical Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences Researchers use ordered mesoporous silica as a nanoreactor, using the limited role of nanospace, through the nitric acid steam cutting and in situ collection strategy, top down The graphene quantum dots with controlled particle size were obtained with the yield up to 48%. Studies have shown that the mesoporous silica nanoreactor can be reused, greatly reducing the cost of preparation. The fluorescence Sensor was constructed using the quantum dot as a fluorescent probe, and a rapid and specific detection of iron ions was realized. Further studies have found that when the chemical state of the quantum dot surface is controlled, the quantum dot has a good response to copper, cobalt, manganese and nickel ions, which greatly broadens the application range of the graphene quantum dot.

The research results have been published on Carbon. The related research work has been funded by the "Hundred Talents Program" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the "Light of the West" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the National Natural Science Foundation, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Youth Science and Technology Innovation Talent Cultivation Project, and international cooperation projects.
