Wuhan Petrochemical Wastewater Reuse Cares for the Yangtze River

Sinopec News Network News As of the end of November, Wuhan Petrochemical's ability to treat reused wastewater reached 48,700 tons per month, which effectively protected the Yangtze River water while saving a lot of water resources.

In recent years, the headquarters has increased the assessment index for environmental protection, implemented the assessment of the amount of tons of oil, and linked the performance with the total salary of the company. This year, Wuhan Petrochemical's assessment index for tons of water is 0.68 tons. As of the beginning of December, the actual amount of tons of water taken was 0.63 tons, exceeding the headquarters assessment index and setting a record for the best results.

In 2008, Wuhan Petrochemical took the lead in implementing wastewater treatment and reuse in the refinery along the Yangtze River. In 2009, wastewater was reused at 20,000 tons/month. This year, the company increased its assessment index to 36,000 tons/month and strived for 39,000 tons/month. Due to the increase in diesel production this year, the amount of alkali slag with high concentration of pollutants is large, and the ultrafiltration membrane group of key equipment for wastewater treatment and reuse has reached the replacement period, and it is very difficult to complete the evaluation index of the headquarters.

In order to minimize the discharge of waste water, the company set up a research team to control pollution from the source to the end and implemented the entire process of optimization. In order to improve the quality of wastewater reuse, the workshop will manage its production “in terms of Zhoubaoyue and Yuebaoinian”, optimize production and technology, increase the adoption rate of filtration membranes, and ensure the production of more qualified reused water. Use the water unit to set the minimum flow rate for the chiller and incorporate a proper amount of recycled water to circulate to prevent sedimentation blockage in the production unit.

At present, the Wuhan Petrochemical Sewage Treatment Plant is operating at full capacity with a processing speed of 260 tons/hour and reuse water accounting for 40% of the water withdrawal.
