External support device for milling long workpieces


When milling a workpiece on a milling machine that has many workpieces on the milling machine, since the center of gravity of the workpiece is not near the center of the table or even outside the table, the result is that the force is unbalanced during the work, causing deformation of the table. Work table wear increases. When the workpiece is heavy, the workbench of the milling machine cannot even move. To solve this type of problem, a support device can be installed outside the milling machine.

The support device is mainly composed of a slider, a cage, a ball cage, an adjusting bolt and a base. The arranged plurality of balls are fixed by the cage under the slider and then placed on the base. Since the balls can be rolled in any direction, the slider can also move in any direction in the horizontal plane on the plane of the base, and the friction coefficient is small, and the movement is very flexible.

When supporting the workpiece, the support device should be placed on a platform near the milling machine and its length direction should be consistent with the workpiece feeding direction to better support the workpiece. Then, adjust the four bolts so that the upper plane of the base is horizontal, and also keep the upper plane of the block at the same height as the milling table. You can also adjust the lifting table of the milling machine to make the milling table equal to the upper plane of the slider. Thus, since the free movement of the slider in the horizontal plane and the height in the vertical direction are equal, the supporting device does not damage the positioning of the workpiece on the milling table, but only serves as a support. When the milling machine table is fed, the slider moves with the workpiece. After milling one end of the workpiece, the head is turned to return the slider to the original position, and the other end of the workpiece can be milled by positioning the clamping again.
