Lubrizol Announces Two New TPU Resins
HC Plastics News: Lubrizol's Specialty Polymers business introduces two new thermoplastic polyurethane resins for hot melt adhesives.
Lubrizol said the new resin is a plasticizer-free Pearlbond 300 TPU series, a soft polymer series with low activation temperatures and excellent adhesion to a wide range of substrates.
“The new resins can be used in technical textiles, linings, garments (seam tapes and thermal transfer labels), conveyor belts, footwear and other applications,†Lubrizol said. The new Pearlbond 360 and 960 TPU resins perform very well in outdoor applications thanks to external factors such as moisture and microbes.
“Pearlbond 360 TPU is a breathable, plasticizer-free, soft polymer that is washable and has strong adhesion to fabrics,†said Lubrizol. The solution is combined at a low activation temperature below 248 degrees Fahrenheit. This allows it to be combined with delicate fabrics and to increase the protection of delicate substrates that are thermally damaged.
Pearlbond 960 TPU is a light-stable, breathable and plasticizer-free polymer that combines previous performance with new UV resistance. This is a highly durable solution with improved bonding and mechanical properties.
