Wuhan Iron and Steel Base
WISCO is located along the Yangtze River in the Qingshan District of Wuchang. It is a large-scale steel industrial base built in China after 1949. It has formed a comprehensive production capacity of 6 million tons of ironmaking, 5 million tons of steelmaking, 4 million tons of hot rolling, 1.22 million tons of cold rolling and 190,000 tons of silicon steel sheets. The main products are: medium-sized steel, thin plate, medium-thick plate, large-scale steel, strip steel, etc. It is the largest steel plate production base in China.
Wuhan Iron and Steel has a superior geographical position, convenient water and land transportation, and the plant site is flat and wide, close to the consumption area. The eastern iron ore mine is the main ore producing area of ​​WISCO. The ore grade is high and contains beneficial components such as copper. However, the limited reserves and deep burial are the limiting factors for the further development of WISCO. In the future, we can consider using the Yangtze River water transport and properly importing some of the rich mines to fully utilize the production capacity of the one-meter seven-mill.
