鸾凤玉管理方法

Qi Fengyu Management Method:

January: Focus on cold protection and winter care. The temperature should be kept above 5°C. Although the plants can survive below 5°C, their outer layer may wrinkle and develop dark spots. Water sparingly, stop fertilizing, and ensure plenty of sunlight.

February: Similar to January. Continue with the same care routine as in January.

March: As temperatures rise, increase watering and fertilization. Ensure good indoor ventilation. Repot once a year in spring. Since the root system is shallow, avoid deep pots. A suitable soil mix consists of 2 parts humus or peat soil, 1 part garden soil, 3 parts coarse sand, 1 part slag, and a small amount of decomposed organic fertilizer.

April: Begin sowing and propagation. Use shallow containers, disinfect the soil before planting, cover it after sowing, and water by soaking. Cover the container with glass and place it in a bright but shaded area. Maintain a temperature between 20–24°C for germination, which usually takes 8–10 days. Once seedlings emerge, transplant them regularly, keeping the soil moist but not waterlogged. Remove moss from the pot surface promptly to prevent it from hindering growth. Avoid direct sunlight. Flowers appear in spring, yellow in color, with a diameter of 4–6 cm. Fruits are small and olive-shaped; harvest them when ripe.

May: Continue sowing and managing seedlings. Provide shade during summer, following the “dry and pour” principle to avoid overwatering, which can cause root rot. Apply liquid fertilizer every 20 days, using low nitrogen and slightly higher phosphorus and potassium levels.

June: Grafting and propagation. Use sturdy cactus species like three-leaf arrows or grass balls as rootstocks. Perform grafting on a flat surface. After grafting, keep the plants in a well-ventilated, partially shaded area. Avoid getting water on the wound and protect from rain. After about 10 days, the wound will heal, and the plant will start growing normally. Once the grafted plant matures, you can cut it to encourage its own root system, resulting in a beautiful spherical specimen.

July: Same as June. Continue with the same grafting care and maintenance.

August: Same as July. Keep up with the same practices and attention to plant health.

September: As the weather cools down, reduce watering and fertilization to prepare for the colder months.

October: Bring plants indoors for winter care. Limit watering, stop fertilizing, and provide maximum light exposure.

November: Follow the same care as in October. Maintain consistent conditions to support the plant through the winter.

December: Same as November. Ensure the plants remain healthy and well-cared for throughout the cold season.
