Autumn is the best time to accumulate nutrients before harvesting of fruit trees. The roots are absorbed for a long time. The absorption and utilization of nutrients can effectively ensure the wintering of the fruit trees and the flowering quality of the next year. The next autumn is the last rapid growth period of the roots in the year. Application can ensure root growth and repair, which is beneficial to the decomposition and transformation of fertilizer in early spring, and timely supply nutrients needed for fruit tree flowering fruit set and branch shoot growth.

The roots of apple trees are mainly distributed in the soil layer of 0-40 cm. There are two peaks in the root growth year, and the second growth peak in autumn. In the fall, you need to make a reasonable topdressing of the apple tree. The characteristics of apple tree's absorption are: mainly nitrogen in the early stage and potassium in the middle and late stage, and the absorption of phosphorus is relatively stable throughout the year. Therefore, the following points should be noted in fertilization:

1. According to the output load, the fertilization rate should be balanced. Apple's absorption ratio of NPK is 1:0.5:1. Generally, for every 100 kilograms of fruit produced, 0.8 kg of nitrogen, 0.4 kg of phosphorus, and 0.8 kg of potassium are required.

2. Autumn is the late growth stage of fruit trees. Potash should be the main factor to promote fruit enlargement and sugar accumulation and improve quality.

3. Grasp the timing of fertilization. In autumn, after the fruit is harvested, the root growth peak comes to the base fertilizer, preferably after the autumn shoot stops growing, and the northern region is mostly from September to October.

4. Combined application of organic fertilizer, chemical fertilizer and extra-root fertilization. Organic fertilizer is generally used as a base fertilizer, and cow dung and chicken manure are acceptable. In the total amount of fertilization, the amount of beef and sheep manure should be “jinjinjijinfei”, chicken manure can be halved, and autumn fertilization according to this total, for the shortage of spring fertilization, supplement fertilizer amount and fertilizer type.

Pay attention to the location and depth of fertilization. In general, annular and semi-annular grooves are applied to young trees. The ditch, the hole application, the radiation ditch fertilization method and the whole garden application method are mostly used for adult trees. The depth of fertilization is generally about 40 cm. As the crown is enlarged, the range and depth of fertilization should be increased accordingly. It is appropriate to apply the main distribution layer of the root system.
