Japan's Noritake has now introduced a fixed-grain type grinding wheel "mirrorpolyssa" for precision machining of glass components such as optical lenses and prisms. The flatness of the machined surface is higher than that of the free grit and the existing fixed grit type.

In the past, when grinding such components, the main method was to use a free sand grinding method using cerium oxide chemistry. However, this method is difficult to treat the waste liquid which is formed by mixing free sand and water. At the same time, there are also the disadvantages of the sagging of the workpiece tip and the slow processing speed. The mirrorpolyssa is a fixed sand type, so it is not necessary to control the concentration of sand and water, and can greatly reduce the generation of waste liquid.

Mirrorpolysa uses a structure that uniformly disperses sand into a network adhesive. Therefore, it is less likely to scratch the machined surface than the fixed sand type. In addition, by optimizing the pore diameter to achieve a porosity of 60% or more, stable polishing performance can be maintained. In addition, since the sand particles are appropriately detached, the grinding force can be maintained even after the workpiece approaches the mirror effect.

The company will exhibit mirrorpolyssa at the "semiconjapan 2005" exhibition held at the Messe Convention Center in Chiba Prefecture, Japan from December 7th to 9th, 2005.
