History of garden lights

In 1879, Thomas Edison from the United States made a major breakthrough by significantly extending the lifespan of incandescent light bulbs to over 40 hours. This was a crucial step in making electric lighting practical for everyday use. Then, in 1910, the Coulomb Hall in the U.S. introduced a new type of bulb using tungsten wire as the filament, which proved to be more durable and efficient than previous materials.

In 1913, an American inventor named Lanmir took the next big step by introducing gas-filled bulbs. By filling the glass enclosure with an inert gas, such as argon, he reduced the evaporation of the filament, greatly increasing the bulb's longevity and efficiency. This innovation marked a turning point in the development of modern lighting technology.

In 1925, Japan saw another advancement when a company known as Unbreakable Orange developed the matte inner wall bulb. This design improved light distribution and reduced glare, making it more comfortable for indoor use. Later, in 1932, Japanese inventor Miura Shunichi introduced the double-helical tungsten filament bulb, which further enhanced brightness and energy efficiency.

Since then, the quest for better lighting has never stopped. People began to realize that lighting wasn't just about illuminating homes—it was also essential for extending outdoor activities after dark. As human civilization advanced, the need for more efficient and safer lighting solutions became apparent.

By the 1970s, it became clear that traditional street lamps had several drawbacks. Wall-mounted installations took up valuable space, while overhead lights often created a sense of oppression and posed safety risks. Moreover, they didn’t always meet the specific lighting needs of different environments. This led to the development of garden lights—smaller, more flexible, and designed to blend naturally into outdoor spaces, providing both function and aesthetics.
