Jiangxi Pingxiang builds a national ceramic industry base

Abstract Recently, the Science and Technology Bureau of Xiangdong District in Pingxiang City, Jiangxi Province received an official notice from the Ministry of Science and Technology. The Pingxiang Ceramic Industry Base has been officially recognized as a National Industrial Ceramics High-tech Industrialization Base. This recognition highlights the region's growing influence and innovation capacity in the industrial ceramics sector. According to reports, the Pingxiang Ceramic Industry Base is currently focusing on developing a "four-type" strategy—covering scale, technology, eco-friendly development, and export-oriented growth—to enhance its overall competitiveness. In line with this vision, the base is working to establish four key centers: product research and development, product testing, education and training, and technical service support. Through these efforts, the company aims to transform the base into a leading research and development hub for Chinese industrial ceramics and a globally competitive production center. It is understood that the base currently hosts over 130 enterprises, generating a total output value of 8.03 billion yuan. All companies within the base are committed to implementing harmless and clean production practices. Among them, eight are high-tech enterprises, while six provincial-level R&D platforms and technology service organizations operate within the area. The industry also maintains strong partnerships with 83 universities nationwide, with 12 of them having established teaching practice bases in Xiangdong. Additionally, the local government has hired 28 experts and professors as technology consultants to guide innovation and development. Over the past five years, enterprises in the base have filed 100 patent applications and achieved 252 new products and technological advancements, which were evaluated by the Jiangxi Science and Technology Department.
