Kunming distributes fire equipment for natural villages
Recently, the Kunming High-tech Zone has provided millions of firefighting equipment to 33 natural villages under the Majinpu Office, aiming to support the development of new rural areas and enhance local fire safety. This initiative marks a significant step forward in strengthening community resilience against potential fire hazards.
Yang Zheng, Director of the Majinpu Subdistrict Office, Wang Chunyan, Director of the NPC Working Committee, and heads of various community and village committees were present at the equipment distribution ceremony. The event symbolized a collaborative effort between local authorities and communities to improve emergency preparedness and public safety.
Following the distribution of firefighting gear to representatives from all 33 villages, Yang Zheng emphasized the importance of establishing and strengthening volunteer firefighting teams. He urged the teams to make full use of the provided equipment, work closely with the public security fire brigade, and effectively prevent fires before they escalate. Additionally, he highlighted the need for regular training and team management to ensure that volunteers are always ready to respond swiftly in case of an emergency. By improving their combat readiness, the teams can arrive at the scene quickly and contain fires before they cause major damage.
To ensure that the newly distributed equipment remains functional and accessible, the fire brigade organized professional staff to conduct detailed training sessions. They explained the basic structure, performance, working principles, usage methods, precautions, and maintenance procedures for hand-held pumps, water guns, hoses, and other essential tools. This hands-on guidance ensures that volunteer firefighters are well-versed in operating the new equipment efficiently and safely.
For many years, the Kunming High-tech Fire Brigade has prioritized the development of local fire brigades across its jurisdiction. In 2013, members of the brigade’s party committee conducted on-site inspections in the 33 villages, compiled a research report, and submitted it to the High-tech Management Committee. Their efforts received strong backing, leading to this latest investment. This time, the villages were equipped with 19 types of firefighting tools, including manual pumps, fire hoses, dry powder extinguishers, and ladders, with a total investment of 1.1 million yuan. This funding has significantly improved the region’s basic fire protection infrastructure, enabling quicker response to initial fires and better support during emergency rescues.
