Kunming distributes fire equipment for natural villages

Recently, the Kunming High-tech Zone has allocated millions of fire-fighting tools to 33 natural villages under the Majinpu Office, aiming to support the development of new rural areas and enhance local fire safety.

The event was attended by Yang Zheng, director of the Majinpu Subdistrict Office, Wang Chunyan, head of the NPC Working Committee, as well as leaders from various community and village committees.

Following the distribution of fire equipment to representatives from all 33 villages, Yang Zheng emphasized the importance of using this opportunity to establish and strengthen volunteer firefighting teams in each village. He encouraged the effective use of the provided equipment, close collaboration with the public security fire brigade, and proactive measures to prevent fires. Additionally, he stressed the need for regular training and team management to improve overall combat readiness, ensuring that firefighters can respond quickly and effectively in case of an emergency. Lastly, he called for proper maintenance of all fire-fighting gear to ensure its functionality and maximize its efficiency.

To ensure that motor-driven pumps and other equipment remain in optimal condition, the fire brigade organized professional staff to conduct detailed training sessions on the structure, operation, and maintenance of hand-held pumps, water guns, hoses, and other essential tools. This hands-on instruction helps volunteer firefighters become more familiar with the new equipment, enhancing their ability to respond efficiently during emergencies.

For years, the High-tech Fire Brigade has prioritized the development of local fire brigades within its jurisdiction. In 2013, members of the brigade's party committee conducted extensive field research in the 33 villages, producing a comprehensive report and submitting it to the High-tech Management Committee. Their efforts received strong support, leading to the recent procurement of 19 types of fire-fighting equipment, including hand-operated pumps, fire hoses, dry powder extinguishers, and ladders. A total investment of RMB 1.1 million was made, significantly improving the region’s basic fire protection infrastructure. This initiative not only enhances the ability to tackle early-stage fires but also strengthens emergency response capabilities, providing a vital safety net for the communities.
