The overall structure of our self-priming centrifugal pump consists of six key components: the impeller, pump body, pump shaft, bearings, seal rings, and stuffing box. First, the impeller serves as the heart of the pump, delivering high-speed fluid output. Its blades are crucial for efficient performance, and each impeller undergoes a static balancing test prior to assembly. Both the inner and outer surfaces of the impeller must be smooth to minimize water flow friction losses. Second, the pump body, or casing, acts as the main structural support and connects with the bearing bracket. Third, the pump shaft links the motor via a coupling, transferring torque to the impeller, making it a vital component for energy transmission. Bearings are mounted on the pump shaft to support its movement; they come in two types—rolling and plain bearings. Rolling bearings utilize grease as a lubricant, ideally filling 2/3 to 3/4 of their volume. Excessive grease can cause overheating, while insufficient amounts may lead to noise and excessive heat. Plain bearings rely on clear oil lubrication, with refilling required when the oil reaches the designated level. During operation, the bearing temperature should typically stay below 60°C, though it can rise to 85°C under certain conditions. If temperatures exceed this range, it's essential to identify the cause—such as contamination, degraded lubricant, or moisture—and address the issue promptly.
Fourth, the seal ring, or leakage ring, prevents water from flowing from the high-pressure to the low-pressure areas within the pump. An overly large gap results in reduced water output and decreased efficiency, whereas a very tight clearance causes friction-induced wear. To optimize backflow resistance and extend the impeller and pump casing’s lifespan, a sealing ring is installed where the pump casing meets the impeller, maintaining a gap of 0.25 to 1.10 mm. Fifth, the stuffing box seals the space between the pump housing and the pump shaft, ensuring no water escapes and preventing outside air from entering. This maintains the pump’s internal vacuum. When the pump shaft rubs against the stuffing, heat is generated, which is mitigated by the water seal. It’s important to regularly inspect the stuffing box during maintenance checks since it plays a critical role in keeping the pump operational. Typically, the stuffing needs replacement every 600 hours of operation.
In addition to these components, proper lubrication and regular inspections are crucial for maintaining the pump’s longevity and efficiency. Any irregularities, such as unusual noises or elevated temperatures, should prompt immediate troubleshooting to prevent costly damage. Ensuring all parts are correctly aligned and functioning optimally contributes significantly to the pump's reliability and performance.
