Spain develops a new engine: no carbon dioxide or other harmful people
As we all know, automobile vehicle exhaust emissions refer to the emission of harmful gases such as CO (carbon monoxide), HC+NOx (hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides), daoPM (particulates, soot) from vehicle exhaust. Recently, according to foreign media reports, researchers from Valencia's Polytechnic University (UPV) in Spain have designed a new type of internal combustion engine that will not produce carbon dioxide (CO2) or other gases harmful to human health.
According to reports, the technology is based on the MIEC ceramic film, which was patented by the Institute of Chemical Technology, the mixing center of UPV and CSIC (Spain's Supreme Council for Scientific Research). Such films can remove pollution and harmful gases (such as nitrogen oxide NOx) and liquefy them.
UPV and CSIC researcher José Manuel Serra said: "These membranes contained in vehicle engines can selectively separate oxygen from the air, producing only water and carbon dioxide."
The researchers also said that the carbon dioxide produced by the engine will be compressed and stored in a pressure tank, which can be used for service stations and industrial purposes. In this way, there is a fuel tank and a carbon dioxide storage tank inside the car. After the fuel is burned, the storage tank can store the carbon dioxide produced by the combustion.
"This technology is mainly aimed at large vehicle manufacturers that transport passengers and goods on land and sea, as well as aviation tool manufacturers that reach a certain power level, and can also convert existing diesel-engined vehicles into special vehicles." According to personnel, as for small cars, the technology can also be applied by isolating part of the carbon dioxide in the exhaust pipe.
It is worth mentioning that this revolutionary engine can meet the emission regulations of 2040 and is very efficient.
Currently, the research project has received funding from the Valencian Agency for Innovation, and the first two engine prototypes will be available in the next few months.
