Chongqing Metal Mold Park becomes a new force for China's mold

At a recent Chongqing International Hardware & Electrical City Project Promotion Meeting, it was revealed that Chongqing is set to become a major hub in the western region by building the largest hardware, electromechanical, and die-casting park in the area. According to officials from the Chongqing Mould Industry Park, the completed facility spans 3,000 mu, with 1,800 mu dedicated to production and processing, 600 mu for supporting services, and another 600 mu allocated for market trading. The total investment in the park amounts to 4 billion yuan, and once fully operational, it will serve as a comprehensive base integrating manufacturing, living spaces, and sales. In 2008, the park is expected to generate an annual output value of 5 billion yuan. Currently, there are 16 mold manufacturing companies already operating within the park, signaling strong early development. During the event, local leaders, representatives from the Chongqing Mould Industry Park, and businesspeople from Zhejiang, Guangdong, Shanxi, and Shanghai gathered to discuss the park’s potential and the government’s support. A range of favorable policies were introduced, aiming to attract more investors and boost the industry’s growth. Yin Mingshan, Vice Chairman of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, President of the Chongqing Industrial and Commercial Union, and Chairman of Chongqing Lifan Holding Group, emphasized that Chongqing has a skilled workforce and a supportive environment for businesses. He noted that Oubei is one of the fastest-growing areas in terms of GDP in the city. He also highlighted that two-thirds of Chongqing’s mold market relies on external suppliers, leaving significant room for domestic growth. This gap presents a huge opportunity for the local industry to expand and develop. The Chongqing International Hardware & Electromechanical City is well-planned with modern facilities and has established a large-scale industrial procurement platform, playing a key role in boosting the local hardware and electromechanical sector. Luo Baihui, a mold industry expert, pointed out that once the park is completed, Chongqing could become the third-largest center for hardware, machinery, and electrical mold manufacturing in China, alongside Guangdong and Zhejiang. It is also expected to serve as a major sales and distribution hub, creating a tripartite structure in the national mold industry.
