Efficient application of microbial pesticides

In the process of agricultural production, it is essential to use **microbial pesticides** properly and avoid certain mistakes that can reduce their effectiveness. Here are some key considerations: First, avoid applying microbial pesticides in very cold conditions. Some farmers neglect environmental factors and apply these products during cold weather, such as in winter or early spring. This leads to poor results because microbial pesticides require a warmer environment to work effectively. According to testing guidelines, when applied between 25°C and 30°C, the efficacy of the pesticide is about 1-2 times higher compared to application at 10°C to 15°C. Therefore, choosing the right temperature is crucial for optimal performance. Second, avoid applying microbial pesticides in dry or sunny conditions. If applied between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM on a bright, hot day, the low humidity can prevent the spores from settling and working effectively. It’s better to apply them during periods of high humidity, such as early morning or on rainy days. This ensures the product remains active and has a better chance of reaching the target pests. Third, do not apply microbial pesticides under strong sunlight. The intense UV rays can damage the spores and reduce the effectiveness of the pesticide. Microbial pesticides are especially sensitive to sunlight, as UV radiation can kill the spores and affect the parasporal crystals. To avoid this, it's best to apply them after 4:00 PM or during overcast or rainy weather when the sun is less intense. Fourth, be cautious of heavy rain after application. While heavy rain can wash away the spores and reduce effectiveness, light rain within 5-6 hours after spraying can actually help. Rain helps the spores germinate and increases their ability to infect pests. However, if the rain is too heavy, it may wash away the pesticide before it can take effect. Always check the weather forecast before applying to ensure the best timing. By following these guidelines, farmers can maximize the benefits of microbial pesticides while minimizing waste and inefficiency. Proper application not only improves pest control but also supports sustainable and environmentally friendly farming practices.
