On January 1, 2013, Russia introduced a new national standard for fasteners—GOST R54786-2011 titled "Nuclear Power Plant Removable Fasteners." This standard was developed to align with the broader national requirements of the Russian Federation, ensuring consistency and safety in critical industrial applications. The GOST R54786-2011 standard is specifically designed for removable fastening components used in nuclear power plants. It covers essential equipment such as nuclear reactors, steam generators, heat exchangers, pump housings, fittings, and piping systems. These components are crucial for maintaining the structural integrity and operational safety of nuclear facilities. The standard was created by a team of experts from the Prometheus Institute of Central Structural Materials, a respected institution known for its contributions to materials science and engineering. Their work aimed to establish a reliable framework for the design, manufacturing, and inspection of fasteners in high-stakes environments.
