Main points of fertilization technology

During the growth cycle of beans, plants primarily absorb nitrogen and potassium fertilizers, followed by phosphate. For every 1000 kg of harvested beans, approximately 3.37 kg of nitrogen, 2.26 kg of phosphorus, and 5.93 kg of potassium are required. In addition to these major nutrients, the application of trace elements such as boron and molybdenum can significantly enhance plant growth and development. For a typical field, the recommended fertilizer application per mu (approximately 0.067 hectares) includes 2500–3000 kg of organic fertilizer (or 350–400 kg of commercial organic fertilizer), 8–10 kg of nitrogen (N), 5–6 kg of phosphate (P₂O₅), and 9–11 kg of potassium (K₂O). Organic fertilizer is usually applied as a base fertilizer, while nitrogen and potassium are split into base fertilizer and two top-dressing applications. Phosphate is generally used as a base fertilizer. It's also advisable to mix farmyard manure or commercial organic fertilizer with chemical fertilizers for better nutrient balance. In medium fertility fields, the target yield per mu is around 1500–2000 kg. Based on this, farmers can apply 2500–3000 kg of farmyard manure (or 350–400 kg of commercial organic fertilizer), 3–4 kg of urea, 11–13 kg of diammonium phosphate, and 6–8 kg of potassium sulfate as base fertilizer. Top-dressing is crucial during different growth stages. During the vine-growing period, 6–9 kg of urea and 4–6 kg of potassium sulfate per mu are recommended. During flowering and pod formation, 5–7 kg of urea and 4–6 kg of potassium sulfate should be applied. Additionally, during the pod-setting stage, foliar spraying with 0.3% to 0.4% potassium dihydrogen phosphate or micronutrient fertilizers is advised. This should be done 3–4 times, spaced 7–10 days apart. In controlled environments, carbon dioxide gas fertilizer can also be used to boost productivity.
