Pig feed treatment technology

First, acidification treatment. To address the indigestion caused by low gastric acid levels in weaned piglets, it's essential to acidify the feed. This can be done by adding 1% to 3% citric acid or lactic acid to the drinking water or feed, which helps lower the pH of the feed to around 5. Alternatively, you can add 0.3% pepsin to the feed, which aids digestion and inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria in the intestinal tract.

Second, fermentation treatment. Start by mixing 50 grams of baking soda, liqueur, sea bream powder, spicy glutinous rice, three bags of Liuyi, 5 grams of tea, Guanzhong, 250 grams of yam, medlar, and dried tangerine peel, along with 500 grams of glucose. Grind all ingredients separately and mix them thoroughly. Then add 5 egg whites and 6 kilograms of fine rice bran, blending everything well. Add water until the mixture forms a tight clump when squeezed, but disperses easily when released (with about 65% moisture content). Place the mixture into a container, compact it, and ferment at a temperature between 35°C and 45°C. In colder months, use plastic film for insulation. After three days, if the material turns yellow and emits a strong sweet apple aroma, it is ready as a homemade "medicine strain." Dry it in a shaded area. When feeding, mix 150 grams of this "medicine strain" into 50 kg of feed along with 50 kg of water. The temperature and humidity should match that of the "medicine strain," then let the feed ferment for 24 hours until a strong liquor-like apple scent develops. It is now ready to feed. Offer 4 meals per day, each around 2 to 3 kg, and provide some green or juicy feed after each meal.

Third, saccharification treatment. Starchy concentrates like corn, barley, and sorghum benefit from saccharification, which converts part of the starch into maltose, improving both the taste and digestibility of the feed. Begin by crushing the concentrate and placing it in a container. Pour hot water (between 80°C and 90°C) over the crushed feed, using about 2 to 2.5 times the volume of the feed. Stir until a paste is formed. To prevent rapid cooling, spread a layer of dry material about 5 cm thick on top. Cover the container with a wooden lid or plastic film, and maintain a temperature of 55°C to 60°C for approximately 3 to 4 hours. Once saccharified, the feed should be used within 14 hours to avoid spoilage. Store it appropriately and use it as needed.
